September 19th 2006: British Championships (WCQ5)
Last weeked was the Brits in Magharorty, Ireland. Wow! what an awesome place! Mountains, dunes, amazing surf and believe it or not...sunshine! the surf wasn't great for the comp but the event was really well organised. I managed to pull through all the rounds, making the final and finishing 2nd. So another good result! I'll be doing a full report over the next week so watch this space! Meanwhile, check out the latest on the NI Surf Kayak site: click here

September 11th 2006
The long drive up France is complete! Off on the ferry this evening to Ireland for the WCQ5. With a surf forecast of 12ft and offshore winds, it's looking like it could be fun fun fun!

Biarritz: Sept 2006
September's started with awesome surf! 4-8ft clean and glassy! Apart from breaking my nose yesterday! (pics coming soon!) everything's great! We started filming today so hopefuoly by the end of the week we'll have some really nice footage. Watch this space for pics and updates!...off to cook dinner for everyone now!

Biarritz: August 2006
Sun...Sea...Sand & Surf!...what an awesome place! I arrived 3 days ago to 6ft swell and pounding shore breaks!...managed to find a nice spot nr St Jean de Luz. The swells dropped but today was 3-4ft and ultra clean!...not looking good for the next coupld of days but with approx 7hrs a day on the water i could do with a rest! The wkend looks like it could be pretty epic if the wind holds off enough...so watch this space!

Streamlyte Sponsorship: August 2006
I've just recieved the first set of Freestyle paddles from PaddleSport Designs. (in time for the forthcoming Biarritz expedition!) High quality composite paddles made to custom speccifications.

Mercy Ships: Ghana Update
Wow! what an experience! i'm lost for words. After a month of being here meeting people who's lives are so completely from ours in the West it's really humbling to realise how lucky we are. I've been teaching the children living on board the hospital ship Anastasis (www.ana.mercyships.org) and the opportunities to go out into communities for hands-on-learning experiences had been really rewarding. Of course i couldn't travel without my kayak so i've been checking out some of the local spots. Fetah point break is really a classic and with larger swells would be similar to Rincon in California but with Swells maxing out about 6ft its a very chilled wave...for more information about Mercy Ships, check out www.mercyships.org i'll be putting a more comprehensive report and pics up soon so watch this space for further updates! Also click here for my Mercy Ships site.

Cornwall Mission
3 days of solid swell...a video camera and a search for some secret spots...unfortunately we managed to miss-time most spots and failed to get the 'goin off' footage we'd hoped for... however, in the process we discouvered a secret spot on the North Coast and got some nice footage at another secret...11th May: Video Online Now...click here!

Blog 28th April 2006: Mundaka (Spain)
This weekend is the European leg of the World Cup Series, held on the classic Mundaka break in N. Spain. I'm headed down along with a large UK contigent to enjoy the sun sea and surf!...although with very small surf forecast, i dont know how much surfing we'll get in!...still its a hard life!...click here for Mundaka updates

Blog 26th March: Santa Cruz World Cup Series: Finals Day:
With a high tide and mushy wave, the quarter final was tough work. I managed to make the most of the few waves i had and squeezed in 2nd behind Jono. The seim final was much better and with a dropping tide some waves were walling nicely. I managed a good lead and got 1st ahead of Jono, Randy and Ken (legends of the sport). So into the final!...wow...I was really pshyched and surfing against Rusty, Vince and Ken was always gonna be really tough, but we had great fun and in the closest run heat of the contest, the crowds were certainly wowed by the surfing. After a tense wait I finished in 3rd, behind Vince (2nd) and Rusty (1st...again!) An awesome result for me, being the highest European competitior. Congrats to everyone in the final...it was great fun surfing with you guys! (pics coming soon). click here for full article

Blog 25th March: photos: click here to check out some shots from the contest
Heat 2: pretty messy and small but managed o make the most of it and win the heat. So i'm ranked 2nd going through to the quarter finals...its all about a 1st or 2nd in my heat tomorrow morning!

Blog 24th March: Santa Cruz Surf Kayak Festifal
After a lastminute check in panic last night (dont ask!) got into an afternoon heat. Yesterday's training went well so i'm chillin out this morning re-couping. It's going to be a tough heat but i think i'vemanaged to fine tune the Reflex...so watch this space for pics and results....cool result!....got 1st with 62 points (highest score of the day!) good start!

Blog 18th March 2006: California...
Been surfin north the last couple of days, but arrived in Santa Cruz today. HUGE swells hittin the coast....headed to a meaty beach break going well over 12ft outside! Tomorrow were heading to Davenport for an early session so should be good...hopefully the wind will drop off a bit! Check out the Steamers webcam here (no kayaks until the comp)

Blog 13th March 2006: Cornwall...secret spot!
ClicWith a good swell forecast, I headed to Cornwall again and surfed the 'secret' 'spot M'... a quality, but extremely narly left hand point/reef break. Probably the most dodgy place i've surfed...so pretty much just charged the line! Local photographer Clive Symm got a few shots, including a nice little aerial. Click here to see pics
Off to California Tomorrow...watch this space for updates

Blog 6th March 2006: Mega Reflex Test and Training in Cornwall
Awesome weekend in Cornwall: The Reflex totally blew me away with it's speed and snappy turns, cant wait to get to grips with it and really make it fly! Saturday session at Porthleven was something else...8ft barrels peeling fast onto a shallow reef gave me a few scary moments, but the wave was awesome and the boat handled it really well, remaining stable in the barrel and having the speed to get through critical sections. (full Reflex review coming soon...)
